Hello there, and welcome to my book blog! I hope to become your regular book blog rest stop. I am a 40 (cough, cough) something bibliophile and busy mother of 2 girls, but somehow manage to find time to read!
Lots of people love wordpress and if you use the Wordpress.org it would be way better than blogger but if you use the free version its very limited. Thats why I switched to Blogger.
I've owned both blogger and self hosted WordPress blogs for years. (Free WP is very limited and I didn't last long with it) With self hosted WP, you have hosting fees and need to upload files via ftp etc. You also need a bit of skill if you want to make it pretty and customize the look. WP plug-ins are plentiful and in my opinion superior to gadgets you'll find on blogger. Also, the WP dash board is superior. However, blogger rules in simplicity, and flexibility and better on the budget. Fairly easy to customize, adding gadgets is a snap, and no fees. I publish on my own custom domain using blogger so I have no fees. They both have their advantages but for me what won out in the end was blogger because it's free. Since I no longer need the server space, it was a no brainer to make the switch. Hope this helps.
Thanks, Sebrina and Fiction Vixen! Yeah, spending money on my blog right now wouldn't be a priority for sure. I'll have to do some research, I think.. :0)

I've tried WP as well - not for long. I couldn't stand it. I found blogger to be much easier to use.
