TEASER TUESDAY -- MAY 3

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB over at Should Be Reading, and anyone can play!

  • Grab your current read
  • flip to a random page
  • select 2 teaser sentences from anywhere on that page
  • try not to include any spoilers
  • remember to include the author and book title
My teaser is from Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen.  I've actually had this on my TBR pile for years, but with the movie coming out I thought I better get on with it and read it.  I LOVE it, like REALLY REALLY love, beyond love.  I think it is because I wasn't expecting much.  For some weird reason I thought it was a book revolving around animals that talk.  But with the trailers of the movie on TV I thought, maybe that's not what it's about.. and I can't  believe it has taken me this long to read it.

I love the main character as an old man, he's just the right amount of cranky and sentimental and hands down hilarious.
Here's my teaser:

"Wake up Mr. Jankowski. You're having a bad dream."
My eyes snap open.  Where am I?  Oh, hell and damnation.

Nice teaser! I have this book on my Kindle because it was recommended to me a while ago. My teasers are from The Magnolia League by Katie Crouch and Big Bad Beast by Shelly Laurenston. Happy reading!

It's a fantastic book and I love old Jacob too, I think she did a great job representing an elderly character. I had this on my TBR for ages too even though so many people had recommended it to me...the film urged me to read it this year. I was disappointed with the film though (review on my blog from Sunday if you're interested).

Great teaser. I went to see the movie on Sunday night and it stays very close to the book. I've put my thoughts about it up on my blog.
Here's my TT for this week:

I have this book and wanted to read it before I saw the movie, but I'm seeing it tomorrow and don't think I'll finish before that! Your teaser makes me want to read this now!

I agree with you about the narrator as an old man - those were actually my favorite parts of this book. I enjoyed reading it, but didn't think it was fabulous or anything. I do want to see the movie. If you get a chance, my teaser is here

Great teaser - and a reminder that I really must get around to reading this book.

I had looked a lot of teasers on should be reading today and was about to stop looking but then I saw what book yours was from and just had to come check it out!

I really want to see the movie, cause Robert Patterson is in it! But I'm restraining myself because I can never read a book after I've seen the movie. So book first and then movie.

What makes it even better is the book is at the library right now waiting for me to pick it up tomorrow!!!!

Loved the teaser. I'm feeling like I should reread this before I see the movie, as i read it several years ago when it was first released...loved it as well.
